Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2018 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work The Sculptor's Studio by Johann Georg Platzer. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 112,500.00 (€ 126,137.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Georg Platzer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Allegory of the Five Senses, which sold at auction in April 2007 for GBP 276,000.00 (€ 404,099.56).
