Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Amazon Queen, Thalestris, in the camp of Alexander the Great by Johann Georg Platzer was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2008. The price achieved of GBP 121,250.00 (€ 154,049.49) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Georg Platzer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Allegory of the Five Senses, which sold at auction in April 2007 for GBP 276,000.00 (€ 404,099.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Amazon Queen, Thalestris, in the camp of Alexander the Great von Johann Georg Platzer kam im Juli 2008 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 121.250,00 (€ 154.049,49) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Johann Georg Platzer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Allegory of the Five Senses beobachtet, die im April 2007 für GBP 276.000,00 (€ 404.099,56) versteigert wurde.
