In January 2005 Christies in New York held the auction IMPORTANT OLD MASTER PAINTINGS PART I, which included the work A company making music in the grounds of a country villa; and A family outside their villa with an extensive river landscape beyond by Johann Georg Platzer. The price achieved of USD 340,800.00 (€ 261,169.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Other works by Johann Georg Platzer have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2007 the work Allegory of the Five Senses was auctioned for GBP 276,000.00 (€ 404,099.56).
