Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu & Icons, which included the work Lisette Frey (neé Hofson) (1823-1886) seated in blue dress holding her young son Teophil (b. 1845) on her lap by Johann Friedrich Dietler. The price achieved of GBP 180.00 (€ 266.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 150.00 – 250.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Friedrich Dietler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Child, 1846, which sold at auction in June 2020 for CHF 1,125.00 (€ 1,058.09).
