Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu & Icons, which included the work The missionary, Rev. C. Theophilùs Frey, seated in a crimson chair, in grey suit holding a closed book by Johann Friedrich Dietler. The price achieved of GBP 144.00 (€ 213.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100.00 – 200.00. Admittedly, works by Johann Friedrich Dietler have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Child, 1846 in June 2020 with an auction result of CHF 1,125.00 (€ 1,058.09).

Theophilùs Frey, seated in a crimson chair, in grey suit holding a closed book von Johann Friedrich Dietler zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 144,00 (€ 213,42) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 100,00 – 200,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johann Friedrich Dietler auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of A Child, 1846 im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 1.125,00 (€ 1.058,09).
