Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and Early British Paintings, which included the work The Print Seller; The Singer by Johann Conrad Seekatz. It changed hands for a price of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 17,526.32) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Johann Conrad Seekatz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bäuerliche Szene vor einem Ziehbrunnen. Um 1765. in September 2006 with an auction result of CHF 177,500.00 (€ 111,883.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and Early British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Print Seller; The Singer von Johann Conrad Seekatz zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 17.526,32) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johann Conrad Seekatz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bäuerliche Szene vor einem Ziehbrunnen. Um 1765. im September 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 177.500,00 (€ 111.883,62).
