Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Forty Second Street Looking East With Grand Central Station On The Left And The Chrysler Building On Lexington Avenue In The Distance by Johann Berthelsen. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,294.74), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Johann Berthelsen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Flatiron Building in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 28,800.00 (€ 21,534.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Forty Second Street Looking East With Grand Central Station On The Left And The Chrysler Building On Lexington Avenue In The Distance von Johann Berthelsen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.000,00 (€ 5.294,74) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johann Berthelsen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Flatiron Building im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.800,00 (€ 21.534,32).
