In August 2020 Christies in New York held the auction First Open, which included the work McLean, Virginia, December 5th, 1978 by Joel Sternfeld. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,189.01) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joel Sternfeld achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On This Site: Landscape In Memoriam, 1993-1996 in April 2004 with an auction result of USD 153,100.00 (€ 77,518.99).

Im August 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open durch, in der auch die Arbeit McLean, Virginia, December 5th, 1978 von Joel Sternfeld zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.189,01) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joel Sternfeld erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit On This Site: Landscape In Memoriam, 1993-1996 im April 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 153.100,00 (€ 77.518,99).
