Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Forma con estructura y objetos by Joaquín Torres-García was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 480,000.00 (€ 490,647.04). Admittedly, works by Joaquín Torres-García have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Construcción En Blanco in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 3,380,000.00 (€ 3,031,662.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Forma con estructura y objetos von Joaquín Torres-García im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 480.000,00 (€ 490.647,04) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joaquín Torres-García auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Construcción En Blanco im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.380.000,00 (€ 3.031.662,03).
