In September 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work The Cobbler by Jefferson David Chalfant. The auction ended at the price of USD 25,000.00 (€ 18,588.74), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jefferson David Chalfant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Old Flintlock (The Old Horse Pistol) in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 722,500.00 (€ 519,074.65).

Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 18.588,74) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jefferson David Chalfant erzielen.
