Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Smiling Boy by Jefferson David Chalfant for USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,746.35). This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jefferson David Chalfant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Old Flintlock (The Old Horse Pistol) in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 722,500.00 (€ 519,074.65).
