Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Marrakech, c. 1950 by Jean-Philippe Charbonnier was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 583.70). Admittedly, works by Jean-Philippe Charbonnier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bettina, la plus belle, Paris. Vitrine de Van Cleef et Arpels, Place Vendôme in June 2019 with an auction result of USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,645.61).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Marrakech, c. 1950 von Jean-Philippe Charbonnier im November 2011 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 500,00 (€ 583,70) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Philippe Charbonnier auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bettina, la plus belle, Paris. Vitrine de Van Cleef et Arpels, Place Vendôme im Juni 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.250,00 (€ 4.645,61).
