Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important Miniatures from a Private Collection, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by Jean Francois Marie Huet-Villiers. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,593.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean Francois Marie Huet-Villiers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait de Marie Laetizia Bonaparte, Dite 'Madame Mère' (1750-1836), which sold at auction in June 2005 for EUR 5,760.00.
