Upper estimate price exceeded by 75 %.
This artwork by Jean-Baptiste Weyler achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2018. In the Part I auction, the work Portrait Of A Lady At Her Writing Desk, Circa 1785 sold for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,748.28) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Weyler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Du Marquis De La Fayette in June 2010 with an auction result of EUR 157,000.00.
