Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Summers (the elder) by Jason Boyd Kinsella was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in June last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 250,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 1,638,000.00 (€ 199,332.51). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jason Boyd Kinsella - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Thaws, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 441,000.00 (€ 410,958.90).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Summers (the elder) von Jason Boyd Kinsella im Juni letzten Jahres bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 250.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 1.638.000,00 (€ 199.332,51) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Jason Boyd Kinsella mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Thaws beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 441.000,00 (€ 410.958,90) versteigert wurde.
