This artwork by Janus de Winter achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2005. In the PICTURES WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction, the work A moonlit landscape sold for EUR 1,320.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 700.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Janus de Winter; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A winter landscape with a farmhouse on the brink of the woods sold at auction in March 2000 with the realized price of NLG 5,616.96 (€ 2,389.58).
