Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Soldiers and horsemen resting in a military encampment, in a wooded valley by Jan van Huchtenburg was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings auction at Christies in London in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,150.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan van Huchtenburg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work John Churchill, 1St Duke Of Marlborough (1650–1722) And Prince Eugene Of Savoy (1663–1736), On Horseback At The Battle Of Blenheim (Hochstedt) in April 2021 with an auction result of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 40,582.26).
