Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2001 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures, which included the work Roses, tulips, primroses and other flowers in a glass vase, on a wooden table by Jan van den Hecke the Elder. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 47,000.00 (€ 76,791.48), 18% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan van den Hecke the Elder - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flowers in a glass roemer on a ledge, which sold at auction in July 2019 for GBP 175,000.00 (€ 192,138.36).
