In December 2020 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online, which included the work An iris, carnations, roses and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge with butterflies by Jan Pieter Brueghel. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,756.34), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Pieter Brueghel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, Tulips, Violets And Other Flowers In A Glass Vase On A Wooden Ledge, which sold at auction in April 2008 for EUR 60,250.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit An iris, carnations, roses and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge with butterflies von Jan Pieter Brueghel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 16.756,34) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Pieter Brueghel mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Roses, Tulips, Violets And Other Flowers In A Glass Vase On A Wooden Ledge beobachtet, die im April 2008 für EUR 60.250,00 versteigert wurde.
