Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still Life Of Flowers In A Basket by Jan Philips van Thielen was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,335.96). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Philips van Thielen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tulips, yellow roses and dog roses in a glass vase on a stone ledge, with a leather pen case and a paper identifying the tulips in May 2003 with an auction result of EUR 296,450.00.
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tulips, yellow roses and dog roses in a glass vase on a stone ledge, with a leather pen case and a paper identifying the tulips im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 296.450,00.
