Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings Sale, which included the work Festoons Of Flowers Decorating A Stone Niche Inset With The Holy Family by Jan Philips van Thielen. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 34,100.00 (€ 43,472.68). Admittedly, works by Jan Philips van Thielen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tulips, yellow roses and dog roses in a glass vase on a stone ledge, with a leather pen case and a paper identifying the tulips in May 2003 with an auction result of EUR 296,450.00.
