Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jan Mankes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in March 2011. In the Nineteen to Now, Art from the 19th, 20th and the 21st Centuries auction, the work Zilverwyandotte (Gh 17) sold for EUR 5,250.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Mankes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bomenrij in June 2004 with an auction result of EUR 417,450.00.
