Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2000 a collector was able to acquire the work An extensive river landscape with an elegant couple halted on a track by Jan Looten for GBP 4,935.00 (€ 8,435.33). This price was achieved in the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Looten - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Rocky Wooded River Landscape With Travelers Along A Path, which sold at auction in June 2008 for USD 53,125.00 (€ 33,734.44).
