Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A wooded landscape with sportsmen returning from the hunt, a castle in a gorge beyond by Jan Looten was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 11,750.00 (€ 18,697.95). Other works by Jan Looten have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2008 by the work A Rocky Wooded River Landscape With Travelers Along A Path at USD 53,125.00 (€ 33,734.44).

Als die Arbeit A wooded landscape with sportsmen returning from the hunt, a castle in a gorge beyond von Jan Looten im November 2001 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 11.750,00 (€ 18.697,95) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Jan Looten wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juni 2008 die Arbeit A Rocky Wooded River Landscape With Travelers Along A Path mit USD 53.125,00 (€ 33.734,44).
