Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A sheet of figure studies, mostly the heads of bearded men by Jan Lievens was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 18,000.00 – 22,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 17,640.00 (€ 20,686.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Lievens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Tronie: Study Of The Head And Shoulders Of An Old Bearded Man, Wearing A Cap in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 2,505,250.00 (€ 3,012,280.86).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Tronie: Study Of The Head And Shoulders Of An Old Bearded Man, Wearing A Cap im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.505.250,00 (€ 3.012.280,86).
