Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A river god and putti by a stone wall surmounted by a medallion, a cavalry battle in the background: design for a frontispiece by Jan Goeree was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of NLG 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for NLG 1,989.34 (€ 931.97). Admittedly, works by Jan Goeree have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Study For An Illustration To Jacob Cats, 'Eighty Two Years Old' in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,558.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A river god and putti by a stone wall surmounted by a medallion, a cavalry battle in the background: design for a frontispiece von Jan Goeree im November 2000 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
