Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait De Jules Consolant De Saint Pierre Et De Marthe La Sénégalaisejan-Baptist Huysmans ; Portrait Of Jules Consolant De Saint Pierre And Portrait Of Marthe The Senegalese ; Titled, Signed And Located Lower Right Paris 25 Fev '91, ; Oil On Cardboard by Jan Baptist Huysmans was sold in the Regards sur l'Orient: Orientalist Paintings and Sculptures - Islamic Art auction at Sothebys in Paris in June 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 3,125.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Baptist Huysmans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Un nuage en plein soleil: A plume of smoke in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 217,250.00 (€ 276,018.57).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 3.125,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
