This artwork by Jan Baptist Huysmans achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2020. In the Orientalist Art auction, the work Learning to read sold for GBP 20,000.00 (€ 22,326.75) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Baptist Huysmans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Un nuage en plein soleil: A plume of smoke in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 217,250.00 (€ 276,018.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan Baptist Huysmans erzielte im November 2020 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Orientalist Art wurde die Arbeit Learning to read für GBP 20.000,00 (€ 22.326,75) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 10.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Baptist Huysmans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Un nuage en plein soleil: A plume of smoke im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 217.250,00 (€ 276.018,57).
