Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2004 Christies in London held the auction The Scottish Sale at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, which included the work The ruined castle by James Whitelaw Hamilton. The price achieved of GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,159.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Whitelaw Hamilton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Harbour Side, which sold at auction in August 2008 for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,400.30).
