This artwork by James Webb achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in March this year. In the British and European Art auction, the work Whitstable sold for GBP 2,805.00 (€ 3,191.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Webb achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ansicht von Köln mit dem unvollendeten Dom in May 2020 with an auction result of EUR 185,938.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 87 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von James Webb erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and European Art wurde die Arbeit Whitstable für GBP 2.805,00 (€ 3.191,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Webb erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ansicht von Köln mit dem unvollendeten Dom im Mai 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 185.938,00.
