Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by James Ward could be acquired at Christies in London in March last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art auction, the work The entrance to the Peak Cavern, Derbyshire changed hands for GBP 882.00 (€ 1,045.71) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Ward achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Terrier, Stoat And Dead Rabbit In A Rocky Landscape in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 512,000.00 (€ 752,192.71).
