The work Fitzhead in Somerset, with an ox-cart near a lime kiln, and Glastonbury Tor in the distance by James Ward was sold in the Old Masters Part I auction at Christies in London in December this year. It achieved a price of GBP 289,800.00 (€ 333,838.49), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 45%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Ward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Terrier, Stoat And Dead Rabbit In A Rocky Landscape, which sold at auction in November 2005 for GBP 512,000.00 (€ 752,192.71).

Die Arbeit Fitzhead in Somerset, with an ox-cart near a lime kiln, and Glastonbury Tor in the distance von James Ward wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Masters Part I bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 289.800,00 (€ 333.838,49) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 45%. Für andere Arbeiten von James Ward mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Terrier, Stoat And Dead Rabbit In A Rocky Landscape beobachtet, die im November 2005 für GBP 512.000,00 (€ 752.192,71) versteigert wurde.
