Auction result misses estimated price range
In March last year a collector was able to acquire the work A waterfall and and overshot mill, Combe Valley, Devon by James Ward for GBP 378.00 (€ 448.16). This price was achieved in the auction Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Ward achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Terrier, Stoat And Dead Rabbit In A Rocky Landscape in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 512,000.00 (€ 752,192.71).
