Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by James Smetham could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British & European Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction, the work Flora changed hands for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,606.92) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Smetham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Mandolin in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 476,750.00 (€ 536,512.29).
