Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2015 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Pandora by James Smetham. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 16,974.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Smetham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Mandolin in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 476,750.00 (€ 536,512.29).
