Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of The Russell Sisters by James Sant for USD 5,938.00 (€ 4,540.10). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Sant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the Misses Wilson of Tranby Croft, full-lengths, one standing, in pale blue satin dresses, in a garden in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 77,675.00 (€ 121,635.05).
