Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a girl, three-quarter length, reading a book by James Sant was sold in the Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2003. The price achieved of GBP 10,755.00 (€ 15,438.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Sant have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of the Misses Wilson of Tranby Croft, full-lengths, one standing, in pale blue satin dresses, in a garden in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 77,675.00 (€ 121,635.05).
