Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Groom holding a Saddled Hunter outside a Stable with a Terrier by James Millar was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,600.00 (€ 8,106.74). Admittedly, works by James Millar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of A Gentleman, Full-Length, In A Green Coat, Holding A Gun, Two Dogs And A Partridge At His Feet, In A Wooded Landscape in May 2006 with an auction result of GBP 28,800.00 (€ 42,038.62).

Als die Arbeit A Groom holding a Saddled Hunter outside a Stable with a Terrier von James Millar im Dezember 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.600,00 (€ 8.106,74) den Besitzer.
