Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Departure Platform, Victoria Station by James Tissot was sold in the European & British Art, Part I auction at Sothebys in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 214,200.00 (€ 255,792.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Tissot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Visit To The Yacht (La Visite Au Navire) in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 2,210,500.00 (€ 2,658,888.67).
