The work The Village Gossip; and A Reformed Character by James Hayllar was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2003. It achieved a price of GBP 4,541.00 (€ 6,525.66), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 51%. Admittedly, works by James Hayllar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Only Daughter in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 41,825.00 (€ 61,063.18).

Die Arbeit The Village Gossip; and A Reformed Character von James Hayllar kam im Juni 2003 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 4.541,00 (€ 6.525,66) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 51%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Hayllar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Only Daughter im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 41.825,00 (€ 61.063,18).
