In March 2011 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work A restful pipe by James Hayllar. The result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,697.24) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Hayllar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Only Daughter in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 41,825.00 (€ 61,063.18).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im März 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit A restful pipe von James Hayllar zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.697,24) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Hayllar erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Only Daughter im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 41.825,00 (€ 61.063,18).
