This work of art by James Hayllar could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings auction, the work In the rocky valley, near Tintagel, Cornwall changed hands for GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,472.01) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Hayllar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Only Daughter in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 41,825.00 (€ 61,063.18).

In der Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings wechselte die Arbeit In the rocky valley, near Tintagel, Cornwall für GBP 2.987,50 (€ 4.472,01) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Hayllar erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Only Daughter im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 41.825,00 (€ 61.063,18).
