Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Two Centuries: American Art, which included the work Seascape by James Hamilton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,581.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Hamilton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dragging the Nets, which sold at auction in January 2001 for USD 12,925.00 (€ 13,885.90).
