Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by James Ferrier Pryde achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2009. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Study for 'The Ambassador' sold for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,887.11) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Ferrier Pryde achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Red Ruin in September 2011 with an auction result of GBP 91,250.00 (€ 106,007.14).
