Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction From Peale to Peto: American Masters from the Pollack Collection, which included the work Old Brooklyn Navy Yard, East River, New York by James Edward Buttersworth. The price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,208.69) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Edward Buttersworth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Yacht "Magic" Defending America'S Cup, 1870 in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 821,000.00 (€ 660,073.97).
