This artwork by James Duffield Harding achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2006. In the British and Continental Pictures and Watercolours auction, the work A quantity of unframed watercolours, drawings and lithographs, the majority rural subjects and tree studies including: On a Welsh moor; Cattle watering; Cows resting in the shade; and others (one illustrated) sold for GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,582.96) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Duffield Harding - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A crowded merchantman in the Channel amidst other shipping, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 4,200.00 (€ 6,180.58).

Für andere Arbeiten von James Duffield Harding mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A crowded merchantman in the Channel amidst other shipping beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für GBP 4.200,00 (€ 6.180,58) versteigert wurde.
