In November 2019 Christies in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work A Bit on the Hudson by James David Smillie. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,239.22), 38% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James David Smillie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lake Placid and the Adirondack Mountains from Whiteface in May 2004 with an auction result of USD 130,700.00 (€ 106,982.07).
