Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Women; and Synchromist Study for "Picnic": A Double-Sided Work by James Daugherty was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 4,882.47). Admittedly, works by James Daugherty have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Steel Mill in April 2011 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 33,735.92).
