The work The Writing Lesson by James Collinson was sold in the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction at Sothebys in London in November 2008. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 70,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 79,250.00 (€ 95,819.21). With this result, The Writing Lesson is even the most expensive work of art by James Collinson that we have observed at auctions so far.
