Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2003 Christies in London held the auction THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART, which included the work The Holy Family by James Collinson. The price achieved of GBP 20,315.00 (€ 29,659.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 18,000.00 – 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Collinson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Writing Lesson, which sold at auction in November 2008 for GBP 79,250.00 (€ 95,819.21).
